In a thrilling development, esports and content organization 100 Thieves has unveiled its latest project – Bank Heist, a custom game mode for the popular battle royale game, Fortnite. This marks the company’s initial venture into the realm of game development, leveraging the Unreal Editor for Fortnite to bring this unique experience to life.

Bank Heist is not just another game mode; it’s a testament to 100 Thieves’ ambition to create independent games. The mode introduces a competitive, fast-paced dynamic that diverges from the traditional battle royale experience, drawing parallels with the intensity of games like Call of Duty.

The premise of Bank Heist is simple yet engaging. Two teams face off in a battle of strategy and skill – one team attempts to infiltrate a bank, seize the loot, and escape via helicopter, while the other team strives to thwart their efforts and delay their escape as long as possible.

This innovative game mode was shaped with insights from some of 100 Thieves’ top creators, including Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter, and Jack “CouRage” Dunlop. Their contributions have been instrumental in the development process, with Hofstetter and Dunlop even lending their voices as narrators.

On July 11, Bank Heist will be made freely playable across all Fortnite-compatible platforms. The adventure of 100 Thieves to develop games and experiences is just getting started. The Unreal Editor for Fortnite appears to be the ideal tool for interacting with their fans as they continue to work on developing their standalone game Project X.

John Robinson, President & COO of 100 Thieves, expressed his optimism about this new platform, stating that it offers a complete reset of the existing competitive landscape. The advantages of incumbent publishers are largely neutralized on new platforms, opening up opportunities for innovative players.

100 Thieves also anticipates a financial benefit from this venture, following Epic Games’ announcement of a revenue share with developers of experiences with the Unreal Editor for Fortnite. Given the marketing power of 100 Thieves and its influencers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Bank Heist topping the charts and generating substantial revenue.
