True Crime YouTuber charging audience for autopsy photo of murder victim

Zav Girl, a popular True Crime YouTuber, has faced criticism from her viewers for charging a fee of $3 to access autopsy photos of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch, who was tragically murdered by his stepmother.

Zav in one of her latest videos discussed the gruesome murder of the 11-year-old before revealing that she had obtained Gannon’s autopsy photos through a public records request. She revealed that the photos are on her Patreon account and she is charging $3 to view them. This action of hers did not sit right with her audience upon which she is subjected to severe criticism.

Following the backlash, Zav Girl has shared a statement with her YouTube community defending her actions claiming that the opinions are divided and that while many are against her actions, there are fans who share her thought.

“The reality of the situation is that different people feel differently about this. Some people genuinely think making a video including the autopsy photos is bad and I respect their opinion and feelings. Other people, like myself, think of autopsy photos and the coroner discussing/explaining them as interesting and informative and are able to view it all in a more scientific detached way. It’s just one of those things where it depends on the person.” read her statement.

The situation has attracted the attention of authorities as the lead prosecutor of the original case has urged Gannon’s family to reach out to a lawyer to see if any legal action can be taken. Zav at the time of writing the article has taken the video down and will stay away from YouTube until the situation is dealt with.
